Bullock Rd Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon MerlotThe Bullock Rd brand is Mt Jagged’s second tier brand that derives it’s name from the old bullock road that traverses along the roadside boundary of the Mt Jagged Vineyard. The road was used in the early 19th Century to transport produce from the land and sea up to Adelaide from properties lining the Murray River. A blend of all three red varieties grown at the vineyard. The 2008 Bullock Road triple blend is aged in seasoned French oak. It has flavours of red and black berry fruits and understated oak spices with beautifully intergrated tannins and a long finish. Cellaring: will reward 8+ years. Viticulture: 2008 was a warm long vintage with the vineyard producing more grapes than the desired 2-2.2 tonnes per acre so fruit thinning was undertaken to bring the quantity back down to maximise flavour. The berry and bunch size was consistently small thus resulting in a good ratio of skin to juice and better colour and flavour extraction. Vinification: The parcels were fermented separately and aged
separately in seasoned French Hogsheads (300lt) for 16 months. After maturation
the wine was blended together and then bottled.
